Pagan and British
« on: January 02, 2009, 12:52:19 AM »

I'm British, but I'm also looking into Paganism too, is this ok.
Most British symbolism is Christian, so i'm not sure where I stand.
Can anyone help me to understand what is what?

Thanks,

Jade  :-\

I think it is safe to say that you can be Pagan and follow Pagan beliefs regardless of where you come from.

It is important to remember that your country has been built over hundreds, if not thousands of years, so you need to respect that first and foremost, but don't let that stop you from following your own path in life.

Kind regards,

i'd have to agree with Moonrust on this one. I dont think it matters where you come from, so long as you know who you are and you follow the path you need to in life  :D

Thanks everyone.

I feel much more at ease with where I'm going now. I'd like to look into Paganism more as I feel drawn towards that way of life and I'm proud of being British too.

My mind is at rest now, thanks  ;D

Britain was Pagan long before it was converted to Christianity. Many Christian customs, traditons and feasts are old Pagan ones that have been modified  to suit Christianity  and that includes Christmas (Yule) and Easter (Ostara). Paganism is an umbrella term for all religions that are not one of the three Abrahamic religions, that is to say not Judaism, Christianity or Islamic.
Other religions such as Budism, Hindu, Taoism, Shinto, Wicca, Odinism, Druidism and many others are all considered to be pagan.
